Nuclear Physicists Hate Her!
Unemployed single mom discovers the truth about Cold Fusion.
1 trick to defying the laws of physics, using one weird old $9 tip.
...
These types of adverts really annoy me. Probably more than spam emails. Always completely unjustifiable claims. And I'm sure the reason they've been seen on the BBC or CNN is as scam artists since they never link to any of the stories.
I know the 'single mom' doesn't really exist, and is just a character, but I really hate how she is declared as unemployed, yet she must be evading tax and probably claiming benefits since she is making a lot of money a month.
How does one lose 5 stone in 2 week? I'm guessing it has to be amputation since anything else has to be really unhealthy or just impossible.
One day they will suffer my wrath for plaguing the parts of the internet I goto.
Anatomy of a Facebook Game (on iPhone)
For the past month I have been playing two Facebook games that are on the iPhone, Tap Zoo and Smurf's Village.
Both have been on the top grossing chart for months now with no sign of decline, yet both games are free to play.
So how did they make it to the top of the chart? In-game micropayments must be playing a big role. Which is kinda odd, because when you compare it to a £40 console game, you're getting so little value for money.
The publisher is getting a lot more money for very little work.
Visuals
Visually I find Smurf's Village more appealing, not just because it appeals to my inner Smurf fan, but Tap Zoo's compression artifacts are obvious and it look is just too plain.
The zoom could just be limited to reduce visible artifacts, and judging by the screenshots, Tap Zoo seems to be not designed for iPhone4 resolution and is being scaled up.
Storyline
For storyline, Smurf's Village far greater than Tap Zoo, I'm not even sure Tap Zoo has a storyline to be honest.
There was a point in Tap Zoo where an achievement appeared to build a boat to save animals on a doomed island, which was quite fun to do since it required me building objects that I would never use in my zoo, such as a rope bridge for rope. But after I rescued the first animal, the quest ended with a promise of more to come, but nothing so far.
Smurf's Village storyline, is a bit vague, and just like the Smurf TV series, not in any relevant order. As with the TV series, every level something will happen involving Gargame/x-www-form-urlencoded
Accept: r mix a potion to stop him. But doing these tasks will reward a decent amount of XP, or give me a new Smurf or unlockable.
Portal 2
With the release of Portal 2, I came up with an idea today for a marketing app for the iPhone.
Basically when you open the app, it connects to a server and begins streaming the image from the back camera.
Then on the screen it shows the live feed, with a first person perspective of you holding a portal gun drawn on top.
When you tap the screen the gun fires, and an augmented reality portal appears drawing the live feed from another iphone camera within the portal.
Now you're thinking with portals :).
Pokemon Global Link .. last one?
I have been posting quite a bit about the Pokemon Global Link. A lot of the minigames have a bit easy to solved.
The Pelipper flying game for example, is the exact same placement every single game, making getting to end with 50 seconds left on the clock accomplishable 90% of the time.
The search for the missing Pokemon game, slightly more difficult but still easy. First of all, don't search for the Pokemon, it wastes too much time listening for them then moving on. Instead, find the item first.
Once you find the item, you can almost always guarantee that it is one or two squares away. Just move one square away, and listen, if it is faint then you've gone in the wrong direction, it will either be near or 'it must be here somewhere'.
I've given up on watering berries for people on my Dream Pal list, most of the time they're already watered, and I spent most of the session finding another player who needs theirs watered. Instead I've found that just playing the minigames you get far more points. I got around 500 this session, unlocking the next garden row.
The session ended with three pages worth of Pokemon at the tree.
Even More Pokemon Dream World
Progress in the DW has slowed down now. Mainly waiting on berries to grow to be ready to harvest. I've found a lot of different kinds of berries too, only ever so often I find a new one.
I managed to goto the Island of Dreams 5 times before the Pokemon and items stopped appearing. I only played one minigame for one Pokemon so I didn't get many dream points today.
Tomorrow I will not bother picking up the items, see if that changes how many visits. To be honest, I don't want another Oran berry.
Heres what berries I have so far from my scouting and trading of other players.

More Pokemon Dream World
I tried a few more things today in the DW. When the hour session came to an end and the popup appeared telling me an hour had happened, I clicked the button that said 'Keep playing in the Pokemon DW'.
Not sure if it would work, since there is only suppose to be a limit of an hour a day, yet the game continued. Every minute or so the dialog kept popping back up, and I kept clicking the same button.
Eventually the button just disappeared, so I'm guessing it is an additional 5 minutes for if you are in the middle of something, since I was in there for about 65 minutes.
The ice cream scoop game I do not even bother with the less sticky flavours anymore, as I have discovered that if you place it just right, even if it starts to roll it will freeze into place. I've got it up to 120 through my best efforts with the pecha berry.
The dream forest seems to last longer if you play the minigames even if you have already met that Pokemon before. I was able to get 7-8 visits before all Pokemon and items disappeared. Next time I will try to keep playing them, but the lack of variety does make it get repetitive very quickly.
I also found there is a limit to the number of Dream Pals, so I'm unable to accept the last request I got. Its around 10, I don't see why it needs to be so low.
I'm making about 500 dream points per visit so far, so I should unlock the next garden stage in the next day or two.
